Thanaka
Thanaka is a cosmetic paste made from the bark of the Thanaka tree, native to Myanmar. It’s traditionally applied to the face and body as a sunblock, insect repellent, and skin moisturizer. Thanaka has a cooling effect on the skin and is believed to help prevent sunburn, reduce skin irritation, and even out skin tone. It’s also used to treat minor skin conditions like acne and rashes. Beyond its cosmetic uses, Thanaka is valued in Myanmar for its cultural significance, often worn during religious ceremonies and festivals.
