Butea Superba is also known as Red Kwao Krua Daeng, Red Kwao Krua, Kwao Krua Rouge, Kwao Krua Dang, Buteae, and Butea gum tree. It is a vine plant and is known to be native to Thailand, Vietnam, China, and India. Its use for medicinal purposes has been reported since ancient times. This plant has tuberous roots which are used as rejuvenating tonic for medicinal purposes.
Butea Superba is a rich source of constituent epicatechin, Procyanidin B5, and B2, coumestrol, genistein, daidzein, isoflavones, glycosides, flavonol, prunetin, formononetin, medicarpin, and butesuperin B and A. All these compounds are bioactive and offer significant health and wellness-related properties.
The effects of Butea Superba on the sperm count have been tested in animal-based studies. Results of a rat-based study have shown that eight weeks of treatment of Butea Superba has been significantly helpful to increase sperm count by 16%. Other than enhancing the sperm count and sexual desires its beneficial use has also been reported for treating fever, painful urination, and diarrhea.
The effects of Butea Superba have also been tested on the sexual desires and sexual health of women.
